Seventeen miles outside Cedarville, California, artist and painter John Whitehead's spectacular 320 acre ranch across the border in Nevada is a spring-fed oasis in the heart of Surprise Valley. Come for an extended writer's/artist's retreat, meditation escape, or a family gathering. Our rustic guest cabins provide solitude,  panoramas of lush pastures, snow-capped peaks,  rim-rock buttes, spectacular sunsets and Dark Sky Area for great star-gazing. Amenities include a warm spring-fed swimming pool, the original homestead cabin with big kitchen and common space, park-like lawn/trees, chickens, tame milk cows and great hikes in every direction.
